Are Your Money Beliefs Holding You back?

For most people talking about Money is a Taboo subject; we avoid talking about it and yet it is one of the most important issues in our lives. Everything seems to revolve around Money and there never seems to be quite enough of it to go around. There are many personal reasons that we find ourselves working too hard and not gaining the amount of Money we want. Let’s explore those now.

We start by looking at your Beliefs around Money:

As a young child it was your family and caregivers who helped you to develop your own beliefs around Money. Perhaps money was scared and you were told that you had to work very hard to have money and not to waste it or to have any fun with it. The household circumstances that you grew up in served to reinforce those beliefs and you now still carry those beliefs with you. The problem is that you were a child then and had no choice but to take on the money beliefs of those around you, but now you are an adult you can change those beliefs and decide for yourself.

Before you can change your beliefs about Money you need to first identify what they are:

Here are some questions to help get you started thinking about your Money beliefs.

  • What did your family teach you about Money?
  • Was it okay to speak about Money in the home?
  • Are you afraid of having more Money?
  • Do you believe Money is scarce?
  • What is your resistance to Money?
  • Is your personal identity attached to how much Money you have?
  • Do you believe you don’t deserve Money?
  • Do you speak about Money in a negative way?
  • What is holding you back?

TASK: Get a piece of paper and start to write down all your ideas surrounding the word Money. You can draw a picture if is easier for you. Put the word Money in the middle of the page and draw arrows out from the centre for each idea you come up with. Use the questions above to help you with your ideas., and add more of your own.

Now that you have some idea of your thoughts and beliefs about Money, you can start to replace them with more positive beliefs. For each of the ideas around Money that you wrote down, you need to change them into what is most likely the opposite thought.

For example: If you believe that Money is Scarce, this is called Poverty Thinking, and it will keep you in a position of never having enough money. Change this thought to “there is enough money to go around for everyone”., which is an absolute truth. Money is simply another vibration of Energy and you need to draw it to you with your positive thoughts and language, not push it away with negative ones.

If you don’t believe that you deserve more money in your life, this is attached to your image of yourself or your self esteem and a lack of self love. Exercises in Loving Yourself will help you with this.

Caution:¬†Be aware of the language you are using around Money, be careful not to keep saying “I don’t have enough Money or I have to work harder to get more Money”. This sets up a negative vibration and the Law of Vibration that controls all thoughts, will just go and get you what you asked for which was not enough money…so nothing changes.

It is important to forgive yourself for not realising that up until now, it was your beliefs and ideas around what Money means to you, that was holding you in a position of not having enough. The good news is, it’s never to late to change your thoughts and start attracting Money that you need and want in your life.

I’d love to hear your thoughts and ideas about Money, please drop me a line in the comment box below.

Create a wonderful day!
